FALS Cup Weekly Championship, Prairie Dirt Classic $50k to win, new FALS Frenzy Weekend highlight spectacular 2020 schedule at the Fairbury Speedway

Back for its sophomore season, the FALS Cup Weekly Championship will take center stage for what is arguably one the best weekly race programs in the country.  The special series will continue to feature unprecedented payoffs at all weekly shows for both DIRTcar Late Models ($2,500 to win and $300 to start from a total purse of over $10,000) and DIRTcar Modifieds ($1,500 to win and $175 to start from a purse exceeding $6,000).

Overall, more than $22,000 in purses will be distributed at Fairbury’s weekly cards, which will also include the Sportsman, DIRTcar Stock Cars, and Hobby Mods in 2020. And despite the increases again in the payouts, general admission and pit gate prices will stay the same at $10 and $25, respectively, during the upcoming season that kicks off on May 2nd.

pdcThe 2020 season’s biggest event, of course, will be the 31st annual Prairie Dirt Classic presented by the Bank of Pontiac, a World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series sanctioned event on July 31st-August 1st that offers a record $50,000 first-place prize to Saturday night’s 100-lap winner. Back by popular demand, four showdown features paying a minimum of $2,500 to win each will open the weekend in spectacular fashion on Friday night.

A number of special events during the PDC weekend, which also includes the Summit Racing Equipment Modifieds Summer Nationals Finale will be running for $5,000 to win, are in the final planning stages. The full 2020 PDC event information packet will be released after the first of the year, including reserved seating and camping.

unzicker lmNew to the Fairbury Speedway schedule in 2020, the annual FALS Frenzy Late Model Special will be moved to a permanent fall weekend in October.  The FALS Frenzy now scheduled for October 9th & 10th, presented by Edelman Electric, Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, & Refrigeration, will feature the new two-day season ending spectacular which will be highlighted by a $5,000 to win feature on Friday, and $15,000 to win feature on Saturday.  Also on the card for the Frenzy will be DIRTcar Modifieds ($1,500 to win on Friday, $2,000 to win on Saturday), and DIRTcar Pro (Crate) Late Models ($750 to win on Friday, $1,000 to win on Saturday).  Complete event details will be released soon.

Other major DIRTcar Late Model events scheduled for 2020 at Fairbury include the Saturday, May 9th, FALS Spring Showcase MARS and Sunoco American Late Model Series race that pays $10,000 to win for a 50-lap feature and follows a Late Model special the previous night at Farmer City (Ill.) Raceway; and the annual DIRTcar Summer Nationals stop on Saturday, June 27th, that will be highlighted by another 50-lap, $10,000-to-win A-main plus a $2,000-to-win Summit DIRTcar Modified Nationals feature and a $500-to-win Sportsman headliner presented by Rhino Ag.

mckinney mdThe 8th annual Casey’s Modified Nationals will dominate Labor Day Weekend at Fairbury on Saturday, September 5th, which will pay $10,000 to the winner of the 50-lap showcase.  A huge announcement on the details of this spectacular weekend of Modified action will be announced soon.  Along with the Modifieds, the MARS Series will be back with a $5,000-to-win Late Model special which brought in over 100 total cars for the weekend’s event in 2019.

A date worth circling on the calendar is Saturday, June 13th, which features the return of the IRA / MOWA-sanctioned Sprint Car Shootout. A huge night of racing with Sprints, Late Models, and Modifieds are on the docket for the early summer spectacular.

wise powri 250The POWRi National Midgets will make their lone appearance on Saturday, Sept. 19th, as part of the first of two fall events at the Fairbury Speedway in 2020. The program will also include the DIRTcar Stock Cars ($500 to win), Sportsman ($500 to win), and Hobby Mods. 

The DIRTcar Pro (Crate) Late Models will be in action as part of the annual Memorial Day Weekend Roundup on Saturday, May 23rd. The $1,000-to-win race will be accented by a $3,000-to-win DIRTcar Late Model event, $2,000-to-win American Modified Series feature, a $500-to-win Stock Car A-main, and $500-to-win Sportsman headliner.

Other specials on the 2020 schedule include the traditional Pappy & Bob Allen Memorial Late Model Special on Saturday, June 6th; the $1,000-to-win Eden-Piercy Memorial sponsored by CR Towing for Sportsman on Saturday, July 11th; and the DIRTcar Spring Nationals Stock Car Special paying $2,000 to win in memory of Earl J. Hubert, which will be on the card for the Mother’s Day Weekend FALS Spring Showcase on May 9th.

A number of weekly promotions throughout the season will be highlighted by the Saturday, May 30th, Fan Appreciation Night, which offers FREE general admission for all attendees. Fans will have the opportunity to experience that evening’s FALS Cup action free of charge.  Later in the season, on Saturday, August 29th, FALS will have the annual Driver Appreciation Night, when all drivers will get a FREE pit pass as a thank you for a great season at the track.  This will also be the final night of the FALS Cup Championship in 2020.

Back in 2020, the Alkota “Keep it Clean” Series presented by Rural Route Repair and M&M Pumps will again give away a heated pressure washer valued at over $5,000.  This unique series is structured to include all four DIRTcar weekly classes.  Each driver will contend in a point battle throughout the season on non-special events marked on the schedule. Drivers accumulate points for passing cars in the feature as well as feature-finishing position. The Alkota “Keep it Clean” Series is scheduled for 13 nights throughout the summer.
